I miss drive-in movies. The night sky, the backseat fumbling, the profound exploration of political perspectives… If you’re in San Francisco tonight, join the crowd on the corner of Market and Sanchez for a “drive-in” State of the Union address and art installation. (No car necessary.)
Bay Area video artist Bijan Yashar is known around town for his DIY video events. Tonight, he’ll set up at a Shell gas station, claim an adjacent wall, and filter the live speech through a camera, applying extreme angles to a familiar political presentation. This will be his third real-time screening of the State of the Union address, which he distorts to “underscore point of view and bias in political posturing.”
The party starts around 6 p.m. You bring the popcorn; the rotten tomatoes are optional. To find out more, head here.
