Valentine’s Surprises
Everyone’s favorite, or least favorite, day is just around the corner. Here’s how to impress your lover, friend, or family with some hearty DIY treats…
Learn origami. It’s a handy impress-your-date trick with a napkin when waiting for your food to arrive. There are some excellent tutorials online, here is one for making a flower. If you have a bit more time try making a trinket box out of an old Altoids tin. Fill it with passport photos, love notes, and other baubles. Or, impress your Queen of Hearts with a playing card notebook.
Here’s how to spice up breakfast in bed with some heart-shaped fried eggs:
You will need:
Eggs
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
Frying pan
Spatula
Directions:

1. Heat up a pan with a little bit of oil. Set your cooker to a low heat so that you don’t burn the eggs. |

2. Place your heart shaped cookie cutter in to the center of the pan with the smooth side down, so as not to scratch the pan. |
 |
3. Crack an egg and pour it in to the center of the cookie cutter. The white will want to slip under the cutter, so hold it down to ensure a clean edge. |
 |
4. If some does escape, use a spatula to remove any excess egg from the outside of the cookie cutter. Remove the cookie cutter and let the egg cook for a few more seconds. |

5. Carefully remove the egg from the pan with a spatula and pop it on a plate with the rest of the breakfast. |
