Patently Absurd
These two things fill me with hope:
1) That not only bad history repeats itself. This collection of Technicolor 1950s illustration and advertisements includes some enviable midcentury interiors that don’t look far off from what you’d see in Dwell today. Appropriate ideas at will. For your browsing pleasure, the site’s Pastelogram blog highlights the best (and hokeiest) of the catalog.
2) That inventors know no shame. Patent Room houses an inspired collection of early 20th Century industrial design drawings for toys, aircraft, cars, and architecture held by the U.S. Patent Office archives. Even better: You can order the illustrations as prints or on T-shirts. Don’t miss the trove of porkitecture.
