Shoji-Inspired Patio Doors
I am not a big fan of curtains. I take that back, I despise curtains. Most treatments look like giant window doilies. Instead, I went with something with clean lines that would keep things as bright as possible. Frosting creates privacy without sacrificing light. Cost: Under $15
Materials:
2-3 cans of frosted glass spray
Tools:
Painter’s tape
Laser level
Razor blade or utility knife
Make it:
1. Clean doors thoroughly.
2. Because you will not be able to mark the glass, use the laser level to mark the trim or wall around the doors. These marks should coordinate with the negative areas–those you do not want to be frosted.
3. Using the level and blue painters tape, tape all negative areas. It may help to turn off the lights in order to see the laser light.
4. Once you have finished taping, run your hand over the entire design to ensure that the tape is pressed down without air bubbles.
5. Spray the doors with frosted glass spray. The lighter the coat, the less likely the spray will run.
6. Allow to dry.
7. Repeat until desired opaqueness has been reached and let dry completely.
8. Remove painter’s tape.
9. Using a razor blade or utility knife, clean any areas where the spray leaked beneath the painter’s tape.
