iPod Dress-Up

Gum cases, felt cases, plastic cases, knit cases, tin cases, and fabric cases. Make your iPod a new outfit this spring. It’s all about dress-up.
If you were lucky enough to get a new iPod, or any MP3 player, this Christmas or Valentine’s Day, but feel it’s time to give your musical friend a new look, here are a few ideas:
Totally Menthol, iPod Shuffle Gum Case.

Here is a project that my boyfriend and I came up with such a long time ago, just after the iPod shuffle came out. There have been many variations on it since, including stickers and properly manufactured gum cases that look really cool. But if you want to go back to basics and make your own out of bubble gum wrappers, like we did, here is one of my very first tutorials. Bonus: the case smells minty fresh.
If you are looking for something a little more warm and fuzzy, Craftster has a great selection of tutorials and ideas. Turn your iPod in to a little monster with the furry monster ipod case tutorial or knit your iPod in to a squid with the SquiPod tutorial. For something a little more unconventional, try out this suggestion from the iPod garage forums for making an nano case from, everyone’s favorite, an Altoids tin.

If you have iPod pride, like so many of us, and you don’t want to change the look of your player but want to keep it protected. Or if you have an embarrassing, scratched up, boring looking mp3 player that you want to disguise as an iPod, try out my super easy instructions for making a cozy that looks like an iPod.
If you don’t feel like making your own, there are many craftsters out there that sell wonderful and exciting covers and cozies. Karissa Cove sells a gorgeous selection of cosies for iPods of various sizes and shapes. Happy poding.
