Brooklyn-based design outfit Citizen, which includes among its members ReadyMade profile subject Tobias Wong (The Green Issue, March/April 2005) has just opened up shop in San Francisco. If you’re not on either coast, check out their site, where you’ll find Duchamp-esque installations as well as cheeky, high-concept art wares like Wong’s zinc-cast, chrome-plated boxcutter and cross-shaped scrub brushes (because cleanliness is next to godliness).

There are so many great craft blogs to be found these days–practically a blog for every craft that can be brought to mind. Bringing it all together is the fabulous new Whipup.net. A team of 19 craft-bloggers, led by the industrious Kathreen Ricketson, post several times daily with good handmade things to be found from around the Web; ideas, projects, artist profiles, and beautiful objects. Since 2003 a company called Technical Video Rental (basically Netflix for how-tos) has been renting out instructional videos on everything from painting to knifemaking to swimming to woodworking. Recently they’ve added more functionality to their website, including customer reviews and a personal rental history so you don’t rent the same thing more than once…unless you want to.
