Inspired by Children’s Art
Like many great artists and craftspeople before her, Lizette Greco takes the drawings and artwork of children (mostly from her own kids - now aged 5 and 6) and turns them into appealing little plush toys, cool accessories and homewares. Her work demonstrates that children’s whimsical, funny drawings with their strong, simple lines make the perfect patterns for funky projects. If embroidery is not your thing and you would love to do something similar, you could always put an infamous Print Gocco machine to good use. Also, there’s nothing easier than scanning in a child’s drawing, tracing it or cleaning it up a little in a graphics program and then printing it out to transfer paper ready to be applied to your fabric of choice. There is a whole category on the craftster.org forums relating to iron-on transfer techniques. And of course, there is also the wonder (and ease) of fabric paint and crayons, or even nifty little iron-on transfer pens.
