The Cake Debate
Are exciting cakes just for kids? This week it’s both of my parents’ birthdays and I’ve turned the tables by baking them some celebratory treats. Let your creativity run wild and make someone happy at the same time.
My dad is a huge Doctor Who fan. Last year I made him a Dalek cake, so to up the ante, this year I made him an army of Dalek cupcakes.
I couldn’t afford to get my mum the Chanel bag that she’s been wanting, so I decided to make her an edible version instead. Here’s how:

Dye some roll icing dark grey with black food colouring, roll out, cover the cake and cut off the excess edges. |

Use a fork to pierce a quilted pattern in to the icing. |

Make a handle by rolling up some grey icing and attach it to the cake. |

Make some gold / orange roll icing and make two C’s for the Chanel logo and two strips to wrap around the handle to form a chain. |

Place silver ball decorations on the cake to give it a studded look. |
