Is This Pattern Hot or Not?
I recently bought a pattern to make a handbag with a cut out handle, but the directions for shaping the handles left me disappointed. It seemed there was no way to make them look just right using the pattern instructions (you can see my first try in the photograph). That is when Pattern Review came to my rescue.
I looked up the pattern I was working with, the Chelsea Bag, and was pleased to find that not only did other people share my concern but one user had better luck using a bound buttonhole method. She even included comparison photographs of the process and finished piece, it was exactly what I needed.
Pattern Review is a community of users who review patterns, sewing machines, books, notions and fabric shops. They even offer online sewing lessons and tips. The site was started by Deepika when she couldn’t find a web site that would help her decide what sewing patterns were the best to buy.
