DIY Democracy

Democracy is probably the ultimate DIY project, and we all have a chance to participate on Tuesday. For those of us in California, here is a neat website/resource to help you make sense of all the ballot propositions: CalVoter.Org.
CalVoter.Org is a project of the California Voter Foundation, which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization promoting and applying the responsible use of technology to improve the democratic process.
My favorite part of the site is called How to follow the money. This gives you links to the places where you can see who is contributing money to all the campaigns and ballot initiatives. It gives you an idea of who is in support or opposition, and sometimes the best way to determine how I want to vote is to find out who is actually behind all of those mysterious committees raising tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. Just looking at the amount of money going into politics is astonishing.
Remember to vote on Tuesday.
