Tooling around with plug cutters
We’ve got a fun (and super slick) project here at ReadyMade HQ that’s going to be featured in our next issue. I don’t want to ruin any surprises, but one of its many wonderful details involves the use of a plug cutter. Basically, it’s a drill bit attachment that bores a hole in wood so you can hide your hardware and give the surface a magical, seamless finish. We played it pretty straight while building this particular project, but I love the idea of purposely off-setting the wood grain, or even plugging hardware holes with different types of wood altogether. Check out this quick tutorial from WoodWorkingTips.com to see how it’s done.
