Don’t shoot the messenger
I’m about to make you very angry. As soon as I set my eyes on these amazing city bikes by jorg&olif, I was obsessed. It’s like the bipeds just rolled out of Dutch Centraal Casting. They became available in the U.S. late last year—if only I’d known about them when making my holiday wish-list.
I don’t have to rationalize this for you, do I? You should know by now that biking is one of the only ways to get around without personally smoking out the atmosphere. Plus, Jorg and Olif (aka Canadians Rob MacDonald and Jane Cox) are quite the characters, with their quirky captions (”the pleasure is all mine,” says the custom leather saddle), “slow life” philosophies, and policy of “engaging local design talent and encouraging sustainable production processes.”
The catch: At prices ranging from $895 for a 1-speed to $1,395 for an 8-speed, you’d better be commited to a gam-powered commute.
