Diorama dreaming
The last time I made a diorama was in 5th grade. It was for John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row and included a detailed reproduction of Doc Ricketts’s lab, complete with fish tanks made from plastic binder-page protectors. Alas, if only PF Flyers had held a diorama contest back then—I’m sure my literary-minded masterpiece would have been a shoe-in (ha).
But I know I’m not the only one with fond memories of dioramas past. So all you shoe box artistes oughta listen up: This is your chance to win fame, shoes and maybe even magazines (the winning entry will be featured in upcoming PF Flyers ads, and the first 50 submisisons will earn a free subscription to the fine publication whose website you are currently reading). All you need is a PF Flyers shoebox (don’t worry, the company will send one to you for free) and some good old-fashioned 5th-grade ingenuity. So get to it—the deadline is July 15. And put your best foot forward (sorry, couldn’t resist), ’cause my “Deer in Forest” entry (pictured above) presents some stiff competition.
