Take note
What’s green, useful, and made from back issues of ReadyMade? ReadyMade Notecard Sets, the newest item to hit shelves in the ReadyMade Store. We’ve taken a supply of damaged back issues and transformed them into unique sets of stationary that come complete with envelopes, cards, and labels—and they’re quite, er, noteworthy, if I do say so myself. Tony, our product department intern extraordinaire, describes how it all came together…
When I first started interning at ReadyMade, I got my hands on some damaged back issues and thought it would be neat to die-cut the pages into invitation-sized note card envelopes—something I had seen done at my favorite store in Paris, Robin DuBois. So we did just that, using the pages as a raw material. After a few tests to make sure the envelopes would make it through the mail okay (they did!), we set out to design some simple packaging, and after a few revisions and some fine tuning, we ended up with a really great product. Since all of the notecards and envelopes are made from real pages from the magazine, you can still see some of the projects and ads we’ve featured in the past. Which makes them great for sending word to your loved ones that you’ve bought them all gift subscriptions, no?—Tony Meredith
