Do-gooder design
When you’re designing a logo, do it alone. When you’re designing for the common good, do it together. That’s the message behind AIGA’s cause/affect, a biennial graphic design competition that celebrates the efforts of those who’re trying to change the world, one image at a time.
The details: Entries must promote or support social good and actively engage in enriching our lives. Submitted work can raise awareness about a cause or condition. It can celebrate an arts institution or event. All AIGA asks is that it doesn’t contribute directly to the profit of a commercial organization. And the contest is open to all, so download the entry form and send in submission before the November 9th, 2007 deadline. A panel of top creatives will judge your work (there’s also a people’s choice award), and an awards ceremony will take place at the association’s San Francisco chapter headquarters on December 4th, 2007. Now go forth and design good!
