Saving our soles
In the never-ending quest for the perfect pair of kicks, we were excited to hear about John Fluevog’s Open Source Footwear competition, which invites the hoi polloi to submit shoe designs, posts the drawings online for all to see, and then singles out a few to produce for sale (naming the style after the maker).
Anyone can submit an idea, and it seems that everyone does. The result is a kaleidoscopic closet full of kicks that features everything from shoes that resemble torture devices more than footwear to larks that end up in production, like these equestrian-inspired boots. The 2007 winner is about to be announced, so hoof it over to the Fluevog site and do some sole gazing…
