Make your own cookbook
The girth-widening season has arrived. And though the best cooks I know work freestyle, my mother’s wine-infused stuffing and cranberry Jello mold are bronzed holiday classics that I dare not meddle with. I have most of her recipes on yellowing bits of paper—which aren’t exactly archival quality. So I’m thinking I’ll make one of these nifty new DIY recipe books. TasteBook sent us a sample of their customizable, spiral binders, and I immediately started coming up with titles (Everyday Pork, Jews Who Love Pork, Just Add Pork and Stir).
The site lets you pull your favorite foods along with Pavlovian photos from Epicurious.com (which offers over 25,000 original recipes from Bon AppĂ©tit, Gourmet, and famous chefs), then add homemade recipes of your own, from friends’ collections (try our delicious winter soups), or browse the TasteBooks assembled by top authors and editors. Organize your book under tabbed categories like “meat & poultry” and “desserts & treats,” then create a personalized hardcover.
Make one for yourself, then a batch of tasty gifts for friends.
