Commun-knitty
Move over, frat boys and party girls: Knitters and crocheters no longer need MySpace, now that they’ve got Ravelry. Created by a couple of needle-crafters who were tired of trying to track down knitting resources all over the Internet, the stitch-themed social network makes it easy for members to organize their yarn stashes, search for patterns, keep track of needle sizes, and show off the projects they’ve got in the works. The site also connects members to regional groups of fellow stitchers and retailers that focus on knitting, crocheting, and designing with yarn. (Living in Northern California? Join Knittaz in Da Hood. New Zealand? Check out Kiwi Crafting.)
Excited? Great. But hold your horses: Because the site is still in beta, there is a waiting list to join, and the managers ask that future members be patient. (It takes about one to two weeks to be added.) So sit tight, and you’ll be scouring the site for that allusive Valentine’s Day sweater pattern before you know it. In the meantime, watch this video preview.
