Re:Visionary tactics
What if we came together and pooled our ideas, resources, and energy to create a different kind of urban living experience—one that positively transforms the environment and the community?
That is the question posed by San Francisco-based collective Urban Re:Vision. By hosting a series of international competitions to solicit innovative ideas in transportation, diversity, sustainability, and community, the organization aims to overhaul city life as we know it—by challenging greenies, makers, and thinkers alike to help create a workable prototype for sustainable urban community.
Participants are invited to submit visionary plans for morphing a rundown city block into a live-work, family-oriented, sustainable super-block. And here’s the best part: The winning idea will actually be implemented, giving a much needed facelift to an otherwise hopeless stretch of sidewalk. The philosophy: Big ideas executed on a small scale can get the ball rolling toward change. Kudos to that.
