Kitschy crochet
Since I’m currently enamored with Jessica Polka’s sculptural crochet creations, I’ve been bookmarking all kinds of not-your-grandma’s-style needlework. My most-recent find: Jennipho’s crocheted fortune cookie how-to video. The quirky fabric cookie is a perfect example of amigurumi, the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting kitschy stuffed animals and inanimate objects. Of course, if F-hooking isn’t your forte, you can achieve the same effect by swapping the crocheted round for a circle of felt. Add a personalized fortune and you’re good to go (in bed).
