St. Patrick’s Day how-to: Make green beer
With St. Patrick’s Day falling on weekday this year, you may not be jumping at the chance to navigate through a crowded pub tonight. The next best thing: Mixing up a festive (and cheesy) pitcher of green beer. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be dancing a jig in no time:
1. Fill a pint glass with your favorite light-colored ale. Darker brews like Guinness tend to be hard to tint and may require enough food coloring to dye your teeth green right along with the beer.
2. Add 5 or 6 of blue—not green—food coloring. Green food coloring mixed with a pale ale tends to create a deep-yellow concoction that bares an all-too-close resemblance to another (unappetizing) yellow liquid.
3. Stir and enjoy.
