Get thee to a design school
If Project Runway has left you dying to attend Parsons the New School for Design, now’s your chance. Next week, the school will be host After Taste, a free two-day conference on April 4th and 5th that will cover the latest developments in design, environmental psychology, and materials science. The symposium celebrates the 100 years that’ve passed since Frank Alvah Parsons founded the first American interior design school—and design 101 it is not. Designers, critics, and professors alike will be de-constructing a variety of topics, from :the spatial influences of interior design” to “the question of taste as a critical part of aesthetic judgment.” Featured panelists will include Parsons Dean Tim Marshall and I.D. Magazine Editor-In-Chief Julie Lasky, so pack your books and head to the front of the class. You might not run into Tim Gunn in the hall, but you’ll surely pick up an education.
