Trading spaces: The joys of an online room planner
Seasonal change always brings out the consumer in me—now that warmer weather has arrived, I feel downright compelled to surround myself with new things. But as long as the cost of milk continues to rise while my salary stays the same, I’m content to spend only the energy required to rearrange my furniture, because all it takes to make my apartment feel new again is a thorough shuffling of its stationary objects.
Even so, it’s highly likely that muscles will tire long before the ideal sofa placement is attained. That‘s why I was delighted to find out about this online room planner reviewed on Better Living Through Design. By entering the dimensions of my room as well as the furniture within it, I can arrange—and rearrange—my credenza, sofa, and papasan chair until my heart’s content, all without suffering the back pain or frustrating my oh-so-helpful friends. What’s especially great is that the planner can even account for room details such as fireplaces, windows, and how much room doors and drawers need to open. Now I can design my rooms in undistracted solitude and when friends come over to lend a hand, I can distribute the final printout and put my virtual feng shui-ing to the test.
