Cut to the vase
Cursive design has come up with a charming spring/summer equivalent to paper snowflakes. Her site offers little paper flowers—called Twiggums—for purchase, but I might be inclined to try whipping some up myself. All you need is paper (check), scissors or a hole punch (check), a twig (check) and a vase or three (check).
Side note: Spend a few minutes browsing Etsy and you’ll find tons of chic vases on offer (some of my favorites are here, here and here). Or you could use one of these innovative felt vase covers, which transform any old wine bottle into a formal flower receptacle. And don’t miss Making It Lovely’s vintage slinky vase (scroll down a bit to see); make one yourself by slipping a slender vase into a stacked-up slinky.
And now back to the flowers: Not only do these delicate paper specimens seem a bit closer to nature than their faux-silk rivals, but they’re easy on the wallet and won’t ever wilt (provided you don’t forget they’re not real and try to water them).
