LED by example
When I saw the winning entry in the most recent Craftster challenge—to create an original light fixture, either new revamped—my eyes lit up. After 79 entries and over 550 votes, Craftster user Froufroufreak took the prize with this amazingly intricate chandelier inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream. Made from floral and electrical wire, 120 LED lights, paper mache, paint, and a few faux-flower embellishments, this beauty was then suspended from an upside-down lamp base mounted to the ceiling. The result is a light fixture that couples the woodsy magic of the Brothers Grim with the simple modernity of a West Elm catalog. Be sure to check out the step-by-step photos for hints on how to make one yourself.
