All’s fair

New York’s annual design fairs are in full swing—both the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and the National Stationery Show are currently being held at the Jacob K. Javits Center on the west side of Manhattan, and well-worth the hike over to 11th Avenue.
Open to the public tomorrow only—Tuesday, May 20th—ICFF will showcase the work of over 600 exhibitors, displaying contemporary furniture, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and kitchen and bath fixtures. For a sampling, check out Design Boom for a preview of this year’s ICFF highlights. Find tickets here.
The National Stationary Show runs through this Wednesday, May 21st. A whopping 14,000 domestic and international retailers will be peddling their wares at this trade show; in order to gain entry, you must be an artist or designer yourself. (Visit the show’s web site for registration information.) Attendees will get to see an array of letterpress, gocco, and print work by such artists as San Francisco’s 8mm Ideas, Richmond’s Ink & Paper, and Canada’s Sweet Beets.
