LETS do this
It’s true: Dumpster diving has supplied me with plenty of furniture in the past, and filled many former apartments. But even when financial constraints reached desperate levels, I still had standards: I left the seriously trashed stuff for the garbage man. Yet after seeing the crafty work of India-based Lets, I’m inspired to take another look at the chairs and tables that are in the most disrepair. (Ahem: Take a look at the before and after photos at left). Lets is a re-use movement, started by artist Nupur Goenka, that gives trash a second life; the goal is to incite a sea change in our attitudes regarding resources and need. It’s time to reach through the cobwebs, grab that broken-down bookcase, and ask it if it ever consider getting a little work done…
